Noel Gallagher has spoken of his pride at co-designing the new special-edition kit that takes its inspiration from his debut album with Oasis.

City and global sports company PUMA unveiled the ‘Definitely City’ kit for the 2024/25 season this morning alongside the legendary musician and lifelong fan.

Marking the 30th anniversary of iconic album Definitely Maybe, the kit draws inspiration from the album cover that defined a generation.

And Gallagher says he’s humbled to have worked on it with the Club he loves so dearly.

“It's a proper honour,” he told City Studios.

“When the guys from PUMA approached us at one of the games, I took about five seconds to agree to it.

“It's the same colour palette as the cover of Definitely Maybe. I think it's unique, but it's definitely striking and I think it looks great.

“When you see people represent your Club, it's important that they look good.

“Definitely Maybe has never lost its magic to me. I just think it's an amazing snapshot of what we were about.

“With the anniversary, I've been listening to it a lot more than I would ever listen to it. You know, it makes me smile. They were great times. Really, really great. I mean, it's spawned a great football kit. So its legacy lives on.”

Gallagher, 57, has been supporting City since the 1970s and he’s revelling in the success of the current crop under Pep Guardiola.

Guardiola has led the Blues to 18 major trophies and when he joined the Club, Gallagher was the first person to interview him for City Studios in a lovely ‘When Noel met Pep’ feature.

And Gallagher spoke passionately about Guardiola’s stars as he showcased the new Definitely City kit, which drew inspiration from his band’s debut album.

“I've been supporting City for 50 years and the last decade this has been stuff that dreams are made of,” he added.

“One of the great days of my life was when we were away at Brighton on the last day of the season. We had to win that game. We were in the dressing room afterwards with the players and Kevin De Bruyne is handing me a beer. How did it get any better than this?

“I've had some great times with the players and what you see from the outside is true. They're a really tight, brilliant bunch of lads, funny and really accommodating.

“And I never take it for granted either. It's an amazing privilege.”

The Definitely City kit, which will be worn exclusively in select European fixtures starting with Inter on Wednesday, features a bold aesthetic that echoes the iconic imagery of Definitely Maybe.

The kit is part of the Definitely City collection, all designed in collaboration with Gallagher and the full collection includes a Track Jacket and Pants, Overshirt, Bomber Jacket, Tee, Polo, Retro Jersey and Drill Top.

The collection was shot in a living room recreated from the Definitely Maybe album cover, with City players including Kyle Walker, Jess Park, Mateo Kovacic and Ederson joining Pep Guardiola and Noel Gallagher on set.

The Definitely City kit and collection is available from the City Stores (Etihad Stadium, Arndale Centre and Rockefeller Center NYC) and mancity.com/shop with free delivery for online orders over £90/$130/€100.
