Kyle Lafferty joined Norwich City in 2014 but he was unable to live up to expectations

It's fair to say that Northern Irish striker Kyle Lafferty is a well-travelled man, and his career has taken in many clubs in a range of different countries.

After starting his career at Burnley, Lafferty would head north to Scotland, but he returned to English football in 2014, when he joined Norwich City after leaving Italian side Palermo.

However, the big striker struggled to live up to expectations at Carrow Road, and failed to recreate some of the form he'd shown at Scottish giants Rangers, where he'd played between 2008 and 2012, before Rangers' demotion to the fourth tier of Scottish football.

Kyle Lafferty was unable to replicate his Rangers form at Norwich City

During his first spell at Ibrox, Lafferty made 133 appearances for Rangers, scoring 36 goals, so he certainly knew where the back of the net was, but he was unable to replicate those sort of numbers at Carrow Road.

He joined the Canaries in the summer of 2014 following their relegation to the Premier League, but despite the Canaries winning promotion back to the top-flight at the first attempt, the Northern Irishman didn't do much to help them.

He played just 18 Championship games, scoring once, before he left on loan to join Turkish outfit Caykur Rizepor in the January transfer window.

When Lafferty returned, the Canaries were in the Premier League, and he desperately struggled for minutes, playing just one game in the top-flight, 13 minutes from the bench against Leicester City, and he had to settle for minutes in cup competitions and Premier League 2.

However, Lafferty did add to his goal tally, scoring in a League Cup win over West Brom, before he was loaned out to Championship side Birmingham City in March 2016.

The Canaries were subsequently relegated, and Lafferty came back into the fold in the Championship, albeit in a bit-part role, and he played 16 games in all competitions, scoring twice.

He was released at the end of the 2016/17 season, and his miserable stay in Norfolk came to an end after three years. In total, Lafferty played 39 games for Norwich, scoring four goals and registering four assists - a disappointing spell.

It's fair to say that Lafferty has enjoyed a transfer since leaving Norwich in 2017, and has moved ten times in seven years.

Lafferty headed north of the border to Scotland after leaving the Canaries, joining Hearts, where he remained for a season before heading across to Glasgow for a second spell at Rangers.

He remained at Ibrox for a season before joining Norwegian outfit Sarpsborg 08, before making a brief return to English football with Sunderland in 2020.

From there, Lafferty moved to Italy to sign for Serie B outfit Reggina. However, he was released by mutual consent just a couple of months later, in January 2021.

A short-term deal with Scottish club Kilmarnock followed, before moving to Cyprus in the summer of 2021 when he joined Anorthosis Famagusta. However, like his move to Italy the previous summer, it didn't last long, and his contract was mutually terminated in December.

He made yet another return to Scotland in 2022, joining Kilmarnock again, and he stayed there for just over a year, before moving to his homeland of Northern Ireland in February, when he joined Linfield.

After his short-term deal with Linfield came to an end last summer, he made the decision to join seventh tier Scottish outfit Johnstone Burgh in a bid to be closer to his family, and that's where he remains to this day.

The 36-year-old has certainly made the most of his career to experience different cultures and different clubs, and despite having success elsewhere, his time at Norwich will ultimately be remembered as a disappointment.
