Largie Ramazani will be looking to take his chance for Daniel Farke and Leeds United after news of Manor Solomon's injury.
Leeds United will attempt to stay on top of the Championship as they host Norwich City on Wednesday, with Daniel Farke looking to keep up their momentum and hopefully create a clear gap to those behind them in the promotion race.
Ahead of the clash with the Canaries, Farke confirmed in his press conference that Pascal Struijk will remain absent for the game at Elland Road, with Manor Solomon also a “doubt” as he has a 50/50 chance of featuring after sustaining a hamstring issue.
Solomon is not the only attacker potentially out, with Brenden Aaronson also a doubt for Wednesday’s clash with Norwich but the Whites' attacking depth is such that they will be confident of being able to unlock a defence that has conceded in seven of their last eight fixtures.
Ordinarily, news of an issue to Solomon may be a boost to the visiting team, but Leeds have an opportunity to rotate and that should be a cause for concern for Norwich fans.
Not only that, but Leeds are the most in-form team in the Championship right now. The Whites have kept 15 clean sheets this season and are top of the table following a 10-match unbeaten run, including nine in the second tier.
Leeds have assumed control at the very summit of the Championship standings, one point ahead of Chris Wilder's Sheffield United in second and three points ahead of Burnley in third.
The race for promotion is hotting up and is tight at the top, with the top four all having their own aspirations of returning to the Premier League.
Norwich will provide a different kind of test, but Leeds have showcased their ability to win in a variety of ways this season, including with a number of different forwards in Farke's array of options at his disposal.
Irrespective of the injury issues sustained, Farke could make a number of changes for Leeds' home clash tomorrow night with one eye on Monday’s important trip to Burnley as well.
Both fixtures will be exciting encounters under the lights, where multiple forwards will hope to lay down a marker, given the competition for places in those areas.
Firing in a fantastic 51 goals so far to lead the division's attacking ranks, Leeds have felt comfortable enough to rotate this term.
The likes of Willy Gnonto, Dan James, Largie Ramazani, Mateo Joseph, and even Georginio Rutter were playing the majority of minutes at the start of the campaign, with Solomon, Aaronson, and Joel Piroe picking up starts regularly later on.
Ramazani's spectacular strike meant that he has netted two goals in as many games, including an assist as well, and he ought to be rewarded with a second Championship start since returning from injury in November. With the also-in-form Solomon a major doubt, Ramazani could be fielded on the left with James on the right.
Of course, Gnonto could also be an option, as he has been many times this season on either flank, but Ramazani's 14-minute cameo was surely enough to see a return to the line-up, allowing Solomon to rest and heal properly without any unnecessary risks being taken by Leeds or Farke.
The two sides at Elland Road tomorrow have already met once this term, with Ramazani's equaliser ensuring the spoils were shared in Norfolk back in October.
Given his sensational recent form, and that fact, Norwich's depleted ranks under Johannes Hoff Thorup have plenty to fear, with Ramazani looking to impress again and force his way back into regular Championship starts once more.
Piroe might be the only player to hit double figures this season but the goals have been being shared around. Ramazani, Aaronson and James all have five goals or more, while Gnonto and Solomon have four apiece across all competitions.
Ramazani is electric at his very best, and has the best goal or assist per minute ratio of any Leeds forward, with eight goal contributions at club level this season in just 781 minutes.
Given Aaronson and Solomon are both at risk, and the fact he has hit form, and having scored against the Canaries in October, he simply has to start on Wednesday. Gnonto, James, and the Belgian could all take to the field, with either Gnonto or Ramazani taking up a more central role.
In many ways, it should be no real surprise that Ramazani has proven to be a shrewd acquisition already, given that the 23-year-old was a shining light for Almeria last season despite their relegation. His age means that he has plenty of room to develop and improve from here before he hits his peak.
It was a costly deal to bring the young Belgian across to Leeds from Spain, with Fabrizio Romano stating that a fee of around €11.7 million (£10 million) was agreed in the total package, including the add-ons. A 15% sell-on clause was also included to bring the dynamic winger to Elland Road.
It highlights that the combinations at Farke's disposal are the envy of almost any other Championship team, given that Ramazani has spent so much time on the bench recently.
Rotation is also likely to be vital in the run-in, though, ensuring that every player remains fresh. Competition for places can often bring the best out of attacking players as well, with Ramazani rising to the challenge in that respect lately.
Leeds will hope to further cement their status as Championship promotion favourites when they welcome Norwich to Elland Road, and Ramazani could and should be a player that the away side are fearing. Given their injuries, Thorup and co. may be fearing the worst after their last trip to Elland Road in the play-off semi-finals in May.
