Posting on X, the defender took time to reflect on the "crazy" game that his side had been involved in, with the six-goal thriller arguably the highlight of last weekend's round of Championship fixtures.

The hosts took the lead early on, with a rocket from Borja Sainz putting the Canaries 1-0 up.

However, Boro were able to turn the game around fairly quickly, with a brace from Tommy Conway making it 2-1 to the visitors.

Finn Azaz added a third in stoppage time at the end of the opening 45 - and after that goal - it looked as though Michael Carrick's side were going to go on and secure the win.

And it seemed all but certain that they would go on and win the game when they won a penalty, with just over 20 minutes to go at that point.

However, Conway had his fairly weak penalty saved by George Long, and Sainz took advantage of this by scoring another wonderful goal, with his unstoppable strike halving the deficit.

They were level in the 80th minute, after Seny Dieng inadvertently turned a cross into his own net.

The Canaries were in danger of ruining all of that good work when Kenny McLean was sent off late on for a very rash challenge, but they were able to hold on to the point in the end.

On paper, a point against Boro at home is respectable, if not spectacular.

But Norwich will be extremely pleased about the fact they were able to get themselves back into the game and grab a point, when they could have easily lost 4-1.

This result means they are in eighth position, which isn't a bad outcome, and they remain above Sunday's opponents in the Championship table.

Shane Duffy's message to Norwich City fans after comeback against Middlesbrough

Duffy would have been gutted to have conceded three goals, but was pleased with his side's fighting spirit and Sainz's impact.

Posting on X, he wrote: "Crazy game against a really good team! Carrow road was rocking at the end ! This team don’t know when to quit 💪🏻 magic from the we man once again 💚."

They could have easily been 4-1 down.

On a brace, many people would have backed Conway to secure his hat-trick from the penalty spot.

Thankfully for Norwich, he didn't, and a bit of magic from Sainz got them back into the game.

The contributions of Sainz were so valuable - and they also benefitted from a bit of luck with the third goal.

Coming into this game, the Canaries would have wanted a win, but they won't complain about a draw considering they could have lost Sunday's game by a sizeable margin.
