It's looking increasingly likely that Pelach will end up taking the top job at the bet365 Stadium - and he could take another Norwich figure with him.

Expectation is growing that Stoke City will appoint Norwich City's first-team coach Narcis Pelach as their new manager.

This is according to Lyall Thomas, who believes Pelach could bring a member of staff from Carrow Road with him.

Stoke are currently in need of a new manager following Steven Scumacher's sacking, with the ex-Plymouth Argyle boss being relieved of his duties yesterday.

This dismissal came after the Potters' 1-0 defeat at Oxford United - and the decision to sack Schumacher came as a shock to many football fans.

Although Schumacher's time in charge hasn't always been smooth, he had endured a fairly respectable start to the campaign at the bet365 Stadium with his team.

They may have suffered losses against Watford, West Bromwich Albion and the U's, but he led the Staffordshire outfit to wins against Coventry City and Plymouth Argyle.

Also enjoying a couple of excellent EFL Cup victories, his sacking was seen as a harsh one by many, especially with their several summer additions needing time to settle in.

However, the decision has been taken to move Schumacher on, and Stoke will need to act quickly if they want to have a new manager in place by the time they take on Hull City on Friday.

They face Fleetwood Town in the EFL Cup tonight - and they look set to have a caretaker boss in charge of that game - as things stand.

However, an appointment may not be too far away, according to a recent update.

Stoke City closing in on Narcis Pelach

According to Thomas, Pelach is in talks regarding the managerial role at the bet365 Stadium.

And these talks are now progressing, with expectation increasing that he will be named Schumacher's successor.

He may not be the only figure that leaves Norwich for Stoke in the coming days, with journalist Thomas also reporting that the Canaries' analyst Paul Clements could follow Pelach to Staffordshire.

It doesn't look as though a deal for either is signed and sealed yet, but it appears likely that Pelach will become Stoke's new boss.

Stoke City's decision to replace Steven Schumacher is a risk

Schumacher may not have enjoyed the best time at Stoke, but he needed time to put his stamp on the team and a decent run of games to prove his worth.

But just five games into the season, they have sacked him and the club are now back at square one.

Schumacher is a very talented coach who will probably go on to manage at this level again, having done well at Plymouth, both with Ryan Lowe and solo.

There are no guarantees that Schumacher's successor will be an upgrade and the potential appointment of Pelach is a risky one.

He has worked under some excellent managers before, including Carlos Corberan, but he hasn't got much managerial experience under his belt himself.
