‘Not a priority’ – Hansi Flick gives his take on Xavi’s chief Barcelona target | OneFootball

New Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has informed the club of his stance on the potential signing of Manchester City star Bernardo Silva.

That’s according to Diario Sport, who have on Tuesday provided an insight into the situation.

The name of midfielder Bernardo has of course long taken its place front and centre in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital.

As much comes after the Portuguese was widely confirmed to have been identified as the no.1 summer transfer target on the part of the since-departed Xavi.

Bernardo, for his part, has done everything in his power to accommodate the transfer, even including a ‘Barcelona clause’ in his most recent Manchester City contract renewal.

Upon his arrival last week, the aforementioned Hansi Flick, as a result, was quickly made aware of the readiness of the Blaugrana brass to kickstart negotiations with their counterparts at The Etihad.

The German, however, urged caution with his response.

As per Sport, though Flick would be understandably happy to have a player of Bernardo’s talents at his disposal, ‘in the project he has in mind he considers that the squad has other needs’.

The former Bayern Munich boss, as a result, has requested Deco and co. to focus their attentions elsewhere for the time being, with Bernardo ‘not a priority’ in his eyes.
