Frattesi’s situation at Inter has received a lot of attention in recent days.

The crux of the matter is the strange fact that the 24-year-old is not a regular starter for the Azzurri, but is for the Italian national team.

Frattesi joined Inter last summer. He did so for a sizable fee, meaning that there were certainly big expectations for him.

But in his first season at the Nerazzurri, Frattesi made just five starts in Serie A.

This was not altogether surprising. It was always likely that the former Sassuolo midfielder would take a bit of time to find his feet at Inter. Particularly with the options the team already had in midfield.

But it has perhaps been more surprising that Frattesi has not started once for Inter in Serie A at the start of this campaign.

That in spite of the fact that the 24-year-old has made two starts for Italy during the international break.

It looks clear now that Frattesi wants more playing time at Inter, and he wants it immediately.

If the Italian international continues to be more of a backup option or substitute, he could push for an exit next summer.

But even this summer, there were knocks at Inter’s door about Frattesi.

Roma coach Daniele De Rossi tried to lure the 24-year-old to the capital.

But it was not just the Giallorossi, reports the Gazzetta. Juventus also tested the waters.

The Bianconeri were very keen on Frattesi. And they believed that the 24-year-old’s relative lack of playing time may have opened the door for an early Inter departure.

But the Gazzetta report that Inter made it exceedingly clear that they had no intention of selling Frattesi.

The Nerazzurri continue to see the Azzurri midfielder as a big part of their longer-term plans.
