Burnley's Anass Zaroury is set to leave the Clarets for French outfit RC Lens after only two seasons at the club.

As reported by journalist Sacha Tavolieri, the winger will be moving on from Turf Moor for a fee of 9 million euros, gaining the profit back on the £3.5 million they signed him for from Belgian side Charleroi.

Zaroury hasn't regained the same form he once had at Burnley and with Luca Koleosho now taking the left wing role for Scott Parker, Zaroury has taken the choice of more game time at Will Still's RC Lens side.

With a disappointing loan spell at Hull City last season, Zaroury's fee would've been unlikely to go above £10 million, indicating the Clarets are probably happy with the fee they received.

Burnley will have to move forward without the Moroccan, but it doesn't seem the loss of the winger is being complained about too much by the Clarets faithful.

FLW's Burnley fan pundit Nathan Rogers has claimed that the loss of Zaroury shouldn't be stressed, and they can quite easily move on without him.

"It's not the end of the world, since returning from the last World Cup, he hasn't really done much, if I'm being brutally honest.

"He had an average loan move to Hull City and didn't pull up any trees up there, and he's come back and not looked particularly amazing this season.

"On the whole, I think tripling our money for him and getting a 9 million euros fee from Lens is not a bad bit of transfer business.

"I don't think he would've been a regular starter for Scott Parker with players ahead of him, saying that he has hig moments where he can pop up with a bit of magic.

"It's not the end of the world, and he's one of those players we have to get off the wage bill, and we need to move on unfortunately, so not the biggest shock in terms of him leaving, and I'm not going to lie, it's not one that has surprised me the most as yet."

Burnley have done well to earn 9 million euros for Zaroury

With Burnley gaining this fee for the 23-year-old, you could say Scott Parker has done well to get this figure for the Moroccan international.

Yes, he's shown the signs of what type of player he can be, but on the whole, his impact on the Burnley squad isn't major.

He played a key role in their promotion back to the Premier League in 2022/23, but after a poor showing in the Premier League, it isn't a huge loss.

Taking everything into account, Zaroury was signed for the £3.5 million fee and succeeded in what he had set out to do. Get Burnley back to the Premier League.

Although relegation occurred last season, Clarets fans have probably realised there are brighter prospects in the squad, especially with the rise of Koleosho.
