NYCFC vs D.C. United: How to watch, time, and more of another critical game

It has been frustrating over the last month or so for New York City FC fans. They have won matches, but the 1-0 wins sometimes were based on pure luck. They did perform well against FC Cincinnati, but faltered in the last two matches against Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC and CF Montréal.
The inability to score is a major issue for the Pigeons, so it does not help that they have a quick turnaround. NYCFC will face D.C. United for a midweek game, and the team from the District has been having mixed results, similar to the Bronx side. They are 2-3-0 over their last five Major League Soccer matches. Meanwhile, the visitors have a record of 3-2-0.
The difference between the teams is that D.C. has scored more than one goal in their wins, while all of NYCFC’s wins have been 1-0 results. Plus, the Pigeons sit in tenth place while D.C. is in 12th place in the Eastern Conference standings. One can assume this will be a difficult fixture based on that and the scoring struggles.
That is why it is vital that Pascal Jansen works hard with NYCFC to unlock the players’ scoring boots. Depth is lacking on the roster, but they still should be playing better offensively. Banking on 1-0 results is not the way to go, and Saturday’s loss highlighted that it is not something the team can rely on. Oh, and NYCFC will be on the road, which causes problems on its own.

When the Pigeons play against D.C. this week, they will reunite with their former player, goalkeeper Luis Barraza. The keeper, who was primarily a backup throughout his tenure, has been starting for his new team. Kim Jun-hong was sent to the bench, and as such, Barraza has started the last five games. It will be interesting to see whether he will continue to start and face NYCFC on Wednesday.
