Is the tide turning for New York City FC? That might be the case since they shared the points against Inter Miami CF and won back-to-back wins. More importantly, the wins were against the New York Red Bulls in the Hudson River Derby, who the Pigeons always want to beat, and FC Cincinnati, a team they last won against in 2021. These results are exactly what the Pigeons needed. The players have also played well.
It might appear that way, but NYCFC fans will remember the club had a good late spring but a terrible summer in Major League Soccer. Hence, the team must prove that they are on a run by beating Nashville SC when they play against the Music City team at Red Bull Arena. Unfortunately, the Pigeons cannot play at Yankee Stadium or Citi Field due to the MLB playoffs, so they will play their final home game of the MLS regular season in New Jersey.
It is not ideal, but there is nothing that can be done. What can be done is that NYCFC can win and secure all three points before Decision Day. In addition, fourth place is still up for grabs, but the Bronx side is two points behind Orlando City SC. The Florida team holds the spot entering the weekend. Fourth place guarantees a home advantage in the Round One Best-of-3 series in the playoffs.
Meanwhile, the Boys in Blue should win on paper. Nashville is in 13th place and only has eight wins this season. Yet, the Tennessee side beat NYCFC in June. That is why the home team must continue to play as well as they have, for nothing is guaranteed.

If NYCFC fans cannot watch or listen to the game, then they can follow along via MLS Soccer’s timeline and NYCFC’s X account.
The game is at Red Bull Arena. It stinks. And normally many fans will not attend these matches. However, this is the last home game of the regular season, which is normally utilized to honor the supporters. So, NYCFC fans should, if they can, go to the Nashville game. They should try to fill the stadium as much as they can.
