Atalanta have officially announced the signing of midfielder Lazar Samardzic on loan with an option to buy, which will become mandatory under certain conditions, from fellow Serie A side Udinese.

According to recent updates from Sky Sport Italia, the total cost of the deal will set Atalanta back by around €25m, including bonuses and the loan fee.

Should the move become permanent, Samardzic is expected to join on a five-year contract.

“The Percassi family, the Pagliuca family and the whole Nerazzurri club extend a warm welcome to Lazar, wishing him the all the best in these colours, both on a personal and collective level,” the club wrote in a statement.

Samardzic becomes Atalanta’s sixth new signing of the summer, following the arrivals of Ben Godfrey, Nicolo Zaniolo, Ibrahim Sulemana, Mateo Retegui and Marco Brescianini. La Dea have also made Charles De Ketelaere’s loan move from Milan permanent.

La Dea decided to push forwards on a deal with Udinese after they saw multiple bids turned down by Celtic for Denmark international Matt O’Riley.

It may not be the end of the club’s summer activity, though, as Teun Koopmeieners looks set to join Juventus on a permanent deal, while Ademola Lookman has reportedly asked to be left out of the matchday squad following an approach from Paris Saint-Germain.
