Following their 4-0 win over UD Barbastro in the opening game of the 2024-25 Copa del Rey campaign, FC Barcelona are now set to kick off another competition on January 9th, i.e., the Spanish Super Cup.
For this competition, the Catalans are going to travel to Saudi Arabia, where the competition is set to take place. Hansi Flick will be looking forward to this Cup, as this will be a good opportunity to win an important piece of silverware in the middle of the season and would also allow the team to turn around its poor recent form.
Barcelona have already announced the squad that will travel to the Middle East for this competition, and 28 players in total are going to be in the traveling expedition.
However, not all of these players will be playing on the pitch. This is particularly the case for Marc Bernal, who asked Flick to travel with the team despite him still recovering from his ACL injury and is not expected to play again this season. Andreas Christensen has also been named in this list, even though he might not yet be ready to play.
Similarly, Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor have also been named in this list, although they are not yet eligible to play because of their registration issues. However, Barcelona are counting on getting a favorable order from CSD that will allow a precautionary registration for these two players, allowing them to play in the final.
Raphinha has returned to the squad after missing the game against Barbastro. Similarly, Lamine Yamal, Ferran Torres, and Héctor Fort are also a part of the squad after having missed the last list due to injuries. Sergi Domínguez and Toni Fernández have also been called up from the youth ranks.
The full squad announced by Barcelona for this game is as follows:
Goalkeepers:
Defenders:
Midfielders:
