La Liga giants Barcelona have on Friday made official the permanent departure of striker Vitor Roque.
This brings to an end what was a turbulent and hugely challenging 14 months for the 19-year-old in Spanish football.
Roque had of course spent the season to date out on loan away from Barcelona, after being deemed surplus to requirements by incoming Blaugrana head coach Hansi Flick.
Ahead of today’s Brazilian transfer deadline, however, Palmeiras approached the Camp Nou brass with the proposal to cut the youngster’s loan terms with Betis short, before departing on a permanent basis for his home country.
And, on Friday evening, precisely as much has been made official.
After Real Betis earlier today gave their blessing to the operation in exchange for future compensation, Barcelona have since announced Roque’s exit.
As per a statement across the website and social media platforms of the Catalans:
‘FC Barcelona and Sociedade Esportiva Palmeiras have reached an agreement for the transfer of the player Vitor Roque.
‘The Club wishes him all the best for the future both on and off the field.’
