Dani Rodriguez made his first-team debut for FC Barcelona earlier this month, starting in the La Liga game against Real Valladolid.
However, it turned out to be a night to forget for the youngster as he had to be withdrawn in the first half after sustaining a serious shoulder injury.
Barcelona had announced that the teenage winger will undergo surgery to fix his dislocated shoulder and the club have now officially confirmed that the procedure has been completed.
“Barça Atletic player Dani Rodriguez underwent successful surgery on Thursday for the dislocated right shoulder he suffered on May 3 during the match between Real Valladolid and FC Barcelona’s first team,” the statement read.
“The operation was performed at Barcelona Hospital by Dr Francesc Soler, Dr Jordi Puigdellivol and Dr Marc Aguilar of the FC Barcelona Medical Services.”
The statement also confirmed that Rodriguez will likely be out for a period of three to four months to recover from the injury.
“The estimated recovery time will be between three and four months.”
This comes as a bitter blow for the 19-year-old La Masia gem who had already missed a good chunk of the season earlier through injury.
The youngster will now fully focus on his recovery and rehabilitation, with first-team manager Hansi Flick promising him a spot in the first-team setup once he returns.
