Official: Barcelona starting XI against Girona | La Liga | OneFootball

FC Barcelona are set to kick off their game against Girona soon in La Liga. For both teams, this Catalan derby is quite important in terms of their respective seasons. However, at the Montjuic Stadium, Barcelona simply cannot afford to lose or drop points.

For this game, there was an expectation that Hansi Flick could end up making some rotations, and that is exactly what he has done. Barcelona have fielded a strong lineup for the game, but it is one with a few tweaks here and there to rest certain players.

Here is the official starting eleven for Barcelona against Michel’s Girona.

In goal, to no one’s surprise, is Polish veteran Wojciech Szczesny. The experienced goalkeeper has been invincible for Barcelona this season and the team is yet to lose a game with him starting for them this season.

Ahead of him, Ronald Araujo and Inigo Martinez are the two starting centre-backs. They will need to keep Girona’s forwards at bay while also making sure that they are playing the ball out from the back as effectively as possible.

On their flanks, Jules Kounde and Gerard Martin are the two starting full-backs. They will be asked to help out in attack while also making sure that they are aware of their defensive duties as well.

In the heart of the midfield, Pedri and Eric Garcia will be the two players starting in the double-pivot. Both players possess good technical ability, but they will need to pair it up with an intense work-rate as well to provide the team with the necessary balance.

Right ahead of them, Lamine Yamal and Fermin Lopez will be the two starting wingers as they look to create issues for Girona. In between them, Gavi will be the starting central attacking midfielder as he replaces the injured Dani Olmo.

Up top, Robert Lewandowski will be the team’s starting centre-forward. He will be tasked with creating issues for the Girona defenders and also making sure that he is as efficient as possible with the chances that are created for him in the box.
