The EURO 2020 winner first came to Lazio in 2016 after a spell in LaLiga with Sevilla. He went on to score a club-record 207 goals in 240 competitive matches, including 169 strikes in Serie A. He is one of a select few to have reached the 200-mark for goals in the Italian top flight.
There had been some tension over the past 12 months after it emerged that he had turned down a proposal from the Saudi Pro League. Some supporters held that against him, suggesting that his most productive years were behind him.
Injuries had an effect during the 2023-24 season, and Immobile was eventually left out of Luciano Spalletti’s Italy national team squad for EURO 2024.
