La Liga outfit Celta Vigo have on Tuesday announced the permanent departure of a member of the club’s attacking ranks.
The player to have called time on his stint at Balaídos? Jonathan Bamba.
Bamba, for his part, has played something of a bit-part role for Celta Vigo across the season to date.
Owing to a combination of fitness problems, competition for places and rotation, the Ivorian has featured from the off in exactly half of the Celestes’ league fixtures in 2024/25.
This situation had given rise to recent exit links for Bamba, with Italian outfit Genoa one club to have been credited with an interest in his signature.
As confirmed on Tuesday, however, the 28-year-old has instead taken his talents to the USA.
As per a statement across Celta Vigo’s website and social media platforms, a definitive agreement has been reached for Bamba to head to MLS outfit Chicago Fire:
‘Agreement with Chicago Fire for the transfer of Jonathan Bamba. Best of luck and success in this new stage, djobamba7. Thanks for everything!’
