Hoffenheim have announced that Dennis Geiger has extended his contract until 2027 after his current deal was set to expire in the summer.

On his extension, Geiger said: “I have been thinking about my future for a long time. The TSG is my sporting home and I want to continue playing football here. I am firmly convinced that we can still achieve a lot on our path together, and I will do everything I can to do my part.”

Director of Football Alexander Rosen also spoke on the extension of the 24-year-old: “Dennis is a prime example of the Hoffenheimer Weg. As a child of the region who grew up in our academy, he stands for identification, passion and loyalty. His contract extension is certainly not everyday proof of confidence for both sides in this business. It is great luck to see him constantly on the pitch this season after some health setbacks in the past. With his willpower and duel strength as well as his great footballing qualities, he has recently developed more and more into a leading figure of our team. We are very pleased that Dennis has also committed himself to his TSG at a challenging time.”

Geiger is a product of the Hoffenheim Academy having been born in the region and progressing through the academy. This season, the 24-year-old has played 24 times, scoring once and assisting three times.

The midfielder had been attracting interest from Eintracht Frankfurt, Benfica and Everton over a move once his contract expired, but with this extension, those rumours have now been put to bed.

Hoffenheim currently sit 13th in the Bundesliga five points off of relegation meaning they are not completely safe from the drop. Geiger’s contract extension could possibly indicate his loyalty to the club and even if they got relegated he would stay or he plans on leaving and signing a new contract means Hoffenheim would receive a fee for the 24-year-old.
