Eintracht Frankfurt have today announced the signing of Ansgar Knauff from Borussia Dortmund on a permanent basis. The 21-year-old, who joined the Hessen club on loan in 2022, has signed a contract until 2028.
“With his performances over the past year and a half, Ansgar has played a role in our sporting success, which is why there was no question that we wanted to keep him as a permanent fixture,” said Timmo Hardung, who will be sporting director at Eintracht Frankfurt from July 1.
“We are happy that Ansgar sees Eintracht as his new sporting home and we are convinced of the footballing qualities he has shown so far. In addition, we have come to appreciate Ansgar’s goal-oriented attitude and character over the past 18 months and know that we want to take the next steps in his development together with him.”
Knauff played 33 games across all competitions last season for Eintracht Frankfurt, including six in the Champions League. He was also a part of the squad that won the Europa League in 2022 and also helped SGE reach the DFB Pokal final, where they lost to RB Leipzig.
Since his move from Borussia Dortmund, Knauff has played 52 games in all competitions, scoring four and creating five. Primarily an attacking player, the German youth international has also provided an attacking output at wing-back this season, where he’s had to deputise on the left-and-right.
It’s been an extremely busy summer already for Eintracht Frankfurt. Knauff joins the club on a permanent deal following the signings of Willian Pacho, Hugo Larsson and Omar Marmoush. Junior Dina Ebimbe and Philipp Max have also signed on a permanent basis.
