Emerson Royal was carded in AC Milan’s 2-1 win over Juventus last night and will thus miss the next league game. As per the regulations of the Supercoppa Italiana, he will still be available for the final against Inter.
The Brazilian right-back played from start in Sergio Conceicao’s first game and towards the end of the second half, he was carded for a stamp. It was his fifth yellow card of the season in domestic competitions, meaning he will miss the next game.
As confirmed by the Sporting Judge today, via MilanNews, Emerson Royal will miss the game against Cagliari. Per the Supercoppa Italiana regulations, a player who is one yellow card away from suspension in the league, and then gets carded in the semi-final, will serve the suspension in the league.
“A player/coach who is one yellow card away from suspension before the start of the Supercoppa Italiana and is carded in the semi-final will serve the suspension in the league match following the conclusion of the Supercoppa Italiana,” the regulations read.
This means that the defender will be available against Inter on Monday. It should also be noted that the Sporting Judge gave Milan a €6k fine for delaying the start of the season half by about five minutes.
