Barcelona have been on a sizzling run since the turn of the year, which has shown no signs of a slowdown as we enter into the international break in March.

In fact, Barça have been in terrific form in the month of March, which started with a resounding 4-0 win over Real Sociedad.

Barcelona went on to secure two victories against Benfica, in the Champions League round of 16, before a memorable 4-2 comeback win over Atletico Madrid in La Liga.

Flick nominated for Manager of the Month

In the wake of Barcelona’s top performances in March, Hansi Flick has once again been nominated for the Manager of the Month award.

La Liga confirmed it through social media last night. Apart from announcing Flick as a nominee, La Liga also nominated Manuel Pellegrini of Real Betis and Celta Vigo’s Claudio Giraldez.

It must be noted that Flick won the Manager of the Month award in February and there is no reason why he cannot win it again this month.

That said, Barcelona have played only two La Liga matches in March, with their scheduled game against Osasuna getting postponed due to the unfortunate demise of first-team coach Carles Minarro.

One would, therefore, argue that both Giraldez and Pellegrini would make a better case of winning the Manager of the Month award this time around.

Pellegrini, in particular, has masterminded three wins for Real Betis this month, one of which came against Real Madrid.

Betis’ win over Las Palmas and Leganes have also played a key role in helping Los Beticos put themselves in the mix for an European place.

Therefore, it won’t be surprising to see Flick missing out on the Manager of the Month award this time around.
