Desperate for goals , Le Havre AC have added a new striker to their squad in the winter transfer window.

Ahmed Hassan (31) has signed a contract with the Normandy club until the end of the season as the French side seek to climb out of the relegation zone.

The Egyptian joins Le Club Doyen from Rio Ave in Portugal, who he had signed with in August on a free transfer.

Five times in his career, Hassan has scored 10 or more goals in a domestic campaign, with his best season being in his first stint at Rio Ave in 2014-15 when he netted 12 times in the Primeira League.

During the 2023-24 campaign, he had six goals in 12 appearances for Alanyaspor in the Turkish Süper Lig.

He brings much championship experience, winning two Greek Super League crowns with Olympiacos, one Greek Cup, and the Taça de Portugal with Braga.

In 2013, he helped Egypt win the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations and helped them finish as runners-up in the senior edition of that tournament in 2017.

Internationally, he has collected 32 caps for Egypt, scoring six goals, but was omitted from the side that qualified for the 2018 World Cup.

After 17 Ligue 1 games this season Le Havre are in one of the two relegation positions, four points below AS Saint-Étienne for a play-off spot and trailing FC Nantes by that same margin and top-flight salvation. Didier Digard’s men have had the worst attack in the league so far, scoring a mere 13 goals.
