Eintracht Frankfurt have today announced the signing of Lucas Alario from Bayer Leverkusen.
The 29-year-old has signed a three-year contract with the Bundesliga club. Bayer Leverkusen wanted €6.5m but an agreement was reached between the two clubs for an initial €5m, with the fee rising to above €7m, dependent on performance-related bonuses.
Alario signed a contract extension with B04 last summer so that Die Werkself didn’t lose the Argentine on a free transfer this year. With the contract extension of Patrik Schick and signings of Sardar Azmoun and Adam Hložek, B04 didn’t want to put any obstacles in the way of granting Alario’s wish.
His move to SGE ends his five-year spell at Bayer Leverkusen, where he scored 58 goals and created 16 in 164 appearances in all competitions. Alario wanted to move clubs in search of more playing minutes as he looks to secure a place in Argentina’s World Cup squad.
