In an official statement, Olympique Lyonnais have confirmed the permanent signing of Ernest Nuamah (20) from Molenbeek. The Ghanaian spent last season on loan with Les Gones after the Belgian club spent €25m to complete the transfer of the former Nordsjælland attacker.

The transfer of Nuamah from sister club Molenbeek is set to cost OL a fee in the region of €28.5m. The loan signing of the 20-year-old was viewed with some scepticism by fans whilst Lyon’s transfer business was shackled due to DNCG restrictions, Molenbeek broke their club record fee to sign Nuamah with him never playing a game for the club. A release clause was included in the controversial loan move which has now been activated with Lyon no longer under transfer restrictions.

Signing a contract that will keep him at the Groupama Stadium until 2028, the Ghanaian is one of many loan signings to be made permanent by OL this summer. Both Saïd Benrahma (28) and Orel Mangala (26) have seen their loan moves made permanent from West Ham and Nottingham Forest.
