With Chelsea signing Kalidou Koulibaly this summer, Napoli have already lost a gem in their defence. The signing of Leo Östigard will provide them with little relief.
Napoli have announced the signing of Leo Östigard from Brighton and Hove Albion on a permanent deal. A report from Gianluca Di Marzio reveals that the Italian club has signed the defender for a reported transfer fee of around €5 million plus €3 million in additional bonuses.
Brighton have also included a term that will allow the Premier League club to earn a certain percentage of the transfer fee on the player’s future resale.
The Norwegian youngster joined Genoa on a six-month loan in the January transfer window of 2022. Known for his aggressive defending, Östigard ended up playing 15 matches for the Grifone.
Nevertheless, the 22-year-old is not considered a fitting replacement for Koulibaly at Napoli.
