Shortly after announcing the acquisition of Reda Belahyane, Lazio have confirmed the signing of Danish defender Oliver Provstgaard.

Lazio Sign Oliver Provstgaard

It has been quite a busy transfer deadline day for Biancocelesti. But while the likes of Loum Tchaouna and Toma Basic have been tipped to leave the club, the official announcements have been exclusive to newcomers thus far. While Belahyane became the club’s much-sought-after midfielder signing, Provstgaard will join the ranks as a defensive reinforcement.

The Italian capital side has now announced the transfer with an official note posted on the club’s official website.

SS Lazio announces the permanent acquisition of Oliver Provstgaard Nielsen, coming from Vejle Boldklub. The 2003-born footballer will wear the number 25 shirt.

The Cost

The 21-year-old is a left-footed central defender blessed with solid physical and technical attributes. He rose through the ranks of Vejle and became a member of the first team in 2022. While the official note doesn’t reveal the cost of the operation, previous reports claimed Lazio will pay the Danish club €4 million.

Triple Boost for Serie A List

It should be noted that neither Belahyane nor Provstgaard will warrant a place on the club’s already-congested Serie A squad list since they’re both under the age of 22. The same goes for the club’s other January signing Arijon Ibrahimovic.

The End?

Barring any late surprises, the arrival of the Denmark U21 captain should spell the end of Lazio’s winter signing spree. But it remains to be seen if any player will be heading towards the exit door in the coming hours.
