Real Madrid youngster Rafael Obrador has joined Segunda Division outfit Deportivo La Coruna on a season-long loan deal the club have confirmed.

“Deportivo and Real Madrid CF have reached an agreement in principle for the loan of Rafael Obrador Burguera (Mallorca, 24 February 2004) for this season,” the statement from the Galician outfit read.

“The 20-year-old Spanish left-back will train this morning in Abegondo under the orders of Imanol Idiakez with permission from the white team.”

Obrador, 20, joined Real Madrid in 2020 and became an integral part of the Castilla team over the past two seasons.

The left-back was a part of the pre-season tour of the USA this summer and got some minutes, but a pathway to the first-team squad was never on the cards with Ferland Mendy and Fran Garcia available at Carlo Ancelotti’s disposal.

As such, Obrador has now signed for Deportivo La Coruna and will spend the 2024/25 season on loan at the Segunda Division club and hope to gain valuable experience from his time there.

As was reported on Tuesday, the agreement between Deportivo and Real Madrid for Obrador is believed to not contain any clause for a permanent purchase.
