OL Reign announce signing of Tobin Heath and Jordyn Huitema | OneFootball

The OL Reign of the National Women’s Soccer League have announced the signing of forwards Tobin Heath and Jordyn Huitema.

Rumours had been linking the two players to the Seattle side for about a week before their announcements came.

OL Reign Signing: Tobin Heath

The Reign acquired Heath’s rights through a trade with Racing Louisville FC in exchange for its second round pick in the 2023 NWSL Draft, a 4th round pick and $50,000 in Allocation Money.

Heath joins the team for the remainder of the 2022 season with an option to extend through 2023.

For the last two seasons, Heath has played in the Women’s Super League, after joining Manchester United in 2020 and then playing for Arsenal this past season. The forward made 17 appearances over the course of her WSL stay.

Unfortunately, injuries impacted the American’s availability throughout her stay in England.

On her move to OL Reign, Heath said: “[I] couldn’t be more thrilled to play alongside the world-class players here, for Laura Harvey as my coach, and in front of the amazing community of supporters.

“We’re all eager to win a title, and I’m hopeful I can help OL Reign achieve that goal.”

OL Reign Signing: Jordyn Huitema

Along with Heath, Huitema was the most recent signing for the west coast team. Huitema has signed to an international roster spot through the 2023 season, with an option to extend it through the 2024 campaign.

She joins the Reign from Paris Saint-Germain in exchange for an agreed-upon-transfer fee.

Huitema spent the last three seasons with PSG making 71 total appearances and scoring nine goals across all competitions. The Canadian joined the team in 2019 and helped them win their first ever Division 1 Feminine title in 2021.

On her move to OL Reign, Huitema said: “I’m really looking forward to this new chapter and opportunity with OL Reign. The team is filled with some of the most talented players from around the world and I’m honored to be a part of it.”

OL Reign are currently sixth in the NWSL table, with six goals scored and six conceded in eight games.
