Greek giants Olympiacos have confirmed the signing of Konrad de la Fuente on loan from Marseille.
The American winger had fallen out of favor at the Ligue 1 giants and it's understood that he didn't figure in the plans of manager Igor Tudor.
De la Fuente now has the chance to get his career back on track in Greece, signing with Olympiacos through the 2022/23 season. The former Barcelona youngster was previously linked with a return to Spain with Real Valladolid.
Still only 21 years old, De la Fuente made a good start to life with Marseille after joining from Barca in June 2021, making 23 appearances across all competitions, scoring one goal and providing three assists.
However, Les Phocéens needed to trim down their squad following the acquisitions of Alexis Sanchez and Colombian forward Luis Suarez. De la Fuente was highlighted as one of the players Tudor would be happy to part with.
Capped three times for the USMNT, De la Fuente will hope to use this move to catch the eye of Gregg Berhalter and fight his way back onto the Stars and Stripes' roster ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
The winger featured twice during the United States' qualification campaign for the World Cup, starting in a 0-0 draw with El Salvador in September and coming off the bench in a 1-1 stalemate against Canada days later.
De la Fuente joins the likes of Aboubakar Kamara and Philip Zinckernagel among the summer arrivals for Olympiacos, who are looking to win a fourth consecutive Greek Super League title after missing out to AEK Athens and PAOK back-to-back between 2018 and 2019.
