Everton had a big chance to take the lead in the first half when Dwight McNeil whipped a perfect cross into Dominic Calvert-Lewin, headed just wide when it should have been 1-0.
Tyrick Mitchell had a chance in 56th min, after being played into the box on the left hand side but it was well blocked by Jordan Pickford.
James Tarkowski met a corner strongly but Sam Johnstone made a strong stop on the hour mark. The rebound from a subsequent shot fell to Abdoulaye Doucoure but the Frenchman wasn't able to slot the ball home at the back stick.
Just when Everton were pilling on the pressure, Palace took the front as Jordan Ayew found the far left corner with a stunning strike from outside the box.
When Everton needed a hero Amadou Onana answered their calls, leaping the highest from a corner to head home the equaliser in the 84th minute.
Palace rode a late storm from Everton to hold on for a precious point.
