Tomorrow afternoon, Spurs will welcome AFC Bournemouth to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, for match day 28 of the 24/25 Premier League campaign. Ahead of the game, let's look at how our opponents are shaping up.
So far this season, Bournemouth have exceeded all expectations, currently sitting in 7th place with 43 points, despite losing their last two games in the league. Manager Andoni Iraola has received many plaudits for his work, and has been linked to a number of jobs as a result - including at Spurs.
In goal, fans will know how suspect Kepa is when it comes to long shots. In February of 2023, Oliver Skipp scored his only ever Spurs goal against the goalkeeper, in a 2-0 win over Chelsea. It is important for the likes of James Maddison and Pedro Porro to try and test him from range.
Some good news for Ange's side is that they are to be without key central defender Illia Zabarnyi, whom got sent off in their (league) defeat to Wolves recently. He has been linked with a move to Spurs this season. Marcos Senesi, an Argentina international that would usually fill in here - is to miss the game with an injury.
As a result, James Hill is likely to partner the ever impressive Dean Huijsen, whom has also been linked to Spurs this season - amidst plenty of other clubs. At left-back, Milos Kerkez has also very much impressed this season, and has been linked with moves to the likes of Liverpool. To complete the defence, central midfielder Lewis Cook is likely to continue filling in at right-back, with Spurs academy player Adam Smith out injured.
In midfield, Ryan Christie, whom has been absolutely superb for the Cherries this season, missed the FA Cup victory over Wolves, and is listed as 'doubtful' for this game, which would be a huge boost for Spurs. We could see Tottenham Hotspur fan Alex Scott play in the midfield double pivot as a result - next to USMNT international Tyler Adams.
In attack, striker Evanilson has recently returned from injury. The three behind him could be Marcus Tavernier, Justin Kluivert, and Antoine Semenyo. They play in a very fluid way, and all three are very versatile and like to interchange during the game.
Let's see. With all due respect, a sad state of affairs when Bournemouth are deemed favourites to win - even with Spurs at home. The worst thing is you can't really argue that either.
