For the first time since 22 September 2018, a span that lasted 29 appearances, Oribe Peralta has finally scored a competitive goal.
In Chivas’ 2-0 win over second-division side Correcaminos in Copa MX action, the 35-year-old netted the game’s opening strike in the 56th minute, taking an Alejandro Mayorga pass and smashing it into a fairly empty net from 15 yards.
Mayorga himself would net just seven minutes later as Chivas earned a much-needed victory to take themselves to the top of Group G.
There is still all to play for as Chivas lead with six points with one match to play, while Correcaminos sit in second with four points.
Santos Laguna, who are at the bottom on one point, can still win the group if they are able to win each of their final two matches.
