Parma have decided to pull the plug on Fabio Pecchia after a string of poor results that saw them fall into the bottom three after navigating right above it for the entire season, Corriere della Sera reports. The Ducali come off four consecutive losses against Milan, Lecce, Cagliari, and Roma.

The Gialloblù have collected two points in the last seven rounds by sharing the spoils with Venezia and Torino. Their last win, over Monza, dates back to late December. It was their fourth one this year, while they have drawn on 8 occasions and have been defeated in 13.

Parma have made the call on Pecchia without having a replacement lined up. One of the early candidates in Christian Chivu, who managed the Inter Primavera, Alfredo Pedullà reports. The owner Kyle Krause is in Italy to find a successor.

The coach had been at the helm since the summer of 2022 when he left Cremonese despite the promotion to Serie A to accept the offer of the Ducali. He led them back to the top division in his second campaign in the dugout. He had received a contract extension until 2027 in recent months.

Our Take on Parma and Pecchia

It doesn’t come totally out of the blue given their results, but it’s surprising as they seemed committed to him and especially his style. They probably felt his message wasn’t getting across anymore. They have been lackluster in easier matches all year long for a side that has been tough to beat for top clubs. Pivoting to a defensive-minded gaffer would be a challenge. The first order of business will be to revive some key contributors who have been dormant for months.
