With a few hours to kick off, Brendan has most likely got in mind the side he will send out as we bid to start our Champions League campaign on a high.
One man who has to start for me is Paulo Bernardo. As well as not putting a foot wrong this season, the Portuguese under 21 captain showed he belonged at this level last season after looking assured in his appearances in Europe’s premier competition last season.
Paulo is a player who’s suited to the European scene, and should be starting the game in my opinion. That means Reo Hatate would be most likely to drop out, but it’s a move I’d be willing to make.

Arne Engels is a stick on to start, as he’s not only talented, but we didn’t splash a record £11 million on him just to sit on the bench, especially in European games.
Reo hasn’t really been on form by his own high standards these past few weeks, but he’s still a hugely talented player and would provide a good option from the bench. With so many games coming up it’s also good to rotate the squad, and now we have the quality to do so, it shouldn’t be a big problem.
