Strahinja Pavlovic believes that AC Milan lost the first leg of their Champions League play-off tie against Feyenoord with a mistake in the first few minutes.

In what has been a common theme under Sergio Conceicao so far, Milan have left themselves needing a comeback after they were beaten 1-0 at De Kuip in leg one last night.

The only goal of the game came in the opening few minutes and Mike Maignan will have probably had bad dreams about it. Igor Paixao’s shot from range seemed to take a bounce that surprised him and he could only palm it into the back of the net.

Milan in truth didn’t really deserve anything from the game as they struggled to cope with the intensity of their hosts and the end product was virtually non-existent, so now the pressure is on next Wednesday back at San Siro.

Speaking to Milan TV after the game, Pavlovic offered his thoughts on what was a disappointing night for the team but one that they can put right next week in the return leg.

“It was a difficult game. We didn’t start the game very good, we didn’t play good in the first 20 minutes, we didn’t have aggression, we didn’t create anything and we conceded one unlucky goal,” he said.

“It was not good in the first half, in the second half it was much better but still we didn’t score. The first 15-20 minutes is the period where we lost the game.

“They really dominated in the first half and in front the home fans they just pushed a lot and we didn’t have enough aggression to have an answer for that.”
