Barcelona midfielder Pedri has talked down his chances of winning the 2025 Ballon d’Or.

The midfielder has been a driving force in an impressive campaign for Barcelona. The 22-year-old has helped Barcelona to the top of the La Liga table, while the Catalans have also progressed to the Champions League quarter-finals. Hansi Flick’s side face Borussia Dortmund in the last eight.

Pedri’s all-action influence has been clear. He leads La Liga for passes into the final third, through balls, and progressive passes, while ranking among the division’s leaders for chances created (4th), expected assists (4th), blocks (4th) and touches (4th).

His performance have seen Pedri championed as a potential Ballon d’Or contender, but the midfielder has talked down those suggestions.

He believes teammates Raphinha and Lamine Yamal are more deserving winners, given their ‘numbers’ when it comes to goal involvements.

Pedri added that he is not focused on individual acclaim and will be content as long as team honours arriving at Barcelona this season.

“Usually players who get many numbers win it! I prefer that Raphinha or Lamine win it,” Pedri told TV3.

“They are the ones who make the difference. As long as the team wins titles, I’m happy!”
