Following Manchester City’s friendly defeat to Barcelona earlier this week Pep Guardiola announced that Erling Haaland was being managed through City’s pre-season tour of the United States. That news was cause for concern for everyone associated with the world champions. Haaland will be crucial to City’s chase for silverware on multiple fronts next season. But the City manager had good news yesterday on the condition of his star striker. That is good news with the 24/25 season around the corner.

Manchester City are due to face Chelsea later today in the last friendly of their pre-season. Following that, preparations will begin for next weekend’s FA Community Shield clash with Manchester United. It isn’t vitally important that Erling Haaland plays against Chelsea later today. Though the game would be good for Haaland’s conditioning and preparation for the 24/25 season. What is more important is that Haaland is fit and ready for City’s opening Premier League fixture of the season which is against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. If Haaland’s conditioning has improved he should be in contention to start that game. That is what is most important for Pep Guardiola and Manchester City.

The City manager had good news on the injury front for Manchester City yesterday. Now the hope is that Haaland can get through today’weekscathed and be fit and firing for City’s opening Premier League game of the season in two weeks time.
