ā€œWhat can I say? Congratulations to him and all his family and friends,ā€ Pep told a press conference.

ā€œItā€™s incredible news. Weā€™re so proud of him. We could never have imagined years ago that [our] player would receive this prestigious award.

ā€œWe are so delighted to be a part of this award and to share it with him.ā€

Guardiola was also asked about Real Madridā€™s decision to boycott the awards following Viniciusā€™s snub.

ā€œNothing to say. They want to go, itā€™s fine, they donā€™t, itā€™s fine. They want to congratulate, itā€™s fine, they donā€™t, itā€™s fine.

ā€œAbsolutely, we are not here to judge what other clubs decide what they have to doā€¦ā€

Guardiola was speaking ahead of Cityā€™s EFL Cup clash with Tottenham on Wednesday.
