Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has been offered mouthwatering wages to move to Saudi Arabia next summer.

The 53-year-old started his ninth Premier League campaign with a victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon, as Manchester City pursue a record-breaking fifth consecutive league title during the 2024/25 season.

Guardiola’s side are bidding to win a seventh Premier League title in eight years, having lifted the trophy for a sixth time in May, trumping Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal for the second successive season, courtesy of a 3-1 win over West Ham on the final day of the campaign.

Manchester City started their latest title defence with a 0-2 win over Chelsea in west London over the weekend, courtesy of goals from Erling Haaland and a late strike from former Stamford Bridge star Mateo Kovacic.

The Sky Blues won their 18th trophy of the Guardiola era at Wembley Stadium last weekend, lifting the FA Community Shield at Wembley Stadium, following a dramatic penalty shoot-out victory over Manchester United.

Manchester City could win a further five trophies this season, with the Blues scheduled to compete in expanded versions of both the UEFA Champions League and FIFA Club World Cup.

The 2024/25 campaign could be Guardiola’s last at the Etihad Stadium, as the Catalonian coach is contracted with Manchester City until 2025, and is currently coy on his management plans beyond this season.

Etihad bosses are expected to try and agree a fourth contract extension with the 53-year-old, although Saudi Arabia could be set to threaten Manchester City’s plans, according to outlet CaughtOffside.

Guardiola’s future is claimed to be under ‘threat’ from the Middle Eastern league, with a ‘huge money offer’ that includes the possibility of having his wages doubled by a Saudi Pro League club.

Manchester City sold both Riyad Mahrez and Aymeric Laporte to the Saudi Pro League last summer, meanwhile trio Kevin De Bruyne, Ederson and Kyle Walker have been linked with a move to the Middle East in the past months.
