Petrovic to stay at Chelsea next season after impressing on loan

Chelsea have shelled out big money to fill their squad with goalkeepers, but none of them are apparently good enough to start between the sticks for a club of this stature.
The Blues started the season with Robert Sanchez, but his shakiness and continuous mistakes led manager Enzo Maresca to drop him for summer signing Filip Jorgensen.
Unfortunately, Jorgensen is not much of an upgrade on Sanchez. Chelsea fans have been clamouring for the club to identify a new shot-stopper to sign and take the reins. The club cannot move forward without a reliable goalkeeper.
Petrovic has improved dramatically since his unremarkable spell at Stamford Bridge last term. His number of saves per game remains steady at 3.3, but his save percentage has jumped from 66% to 73%.
Most notably, the Chelsea keeper has transformed his goals-prevented metric from a concerning -8.93 last season to an impressive +4.97. The 25-year-old has kept four clean sheets on the trot and seven in total in 21 Ligue 1 appearances.
His distribution has also seen a significant upgrade. His accurate passes per game have risen from 23.5 (76%) last term at Chelsea to 37.4 (79%), demonstrating greater confidence and involvement in build-up play.
Also, his long balls per game have increased from 4.0 (36%) to 6.2 (40%), showing improved precision in launching attacks from deep.
Chelsea should keep Petrovic around for next season to see whether he can replicate these impressive performances in blue.
Penders can replace him at Strasbourg and continue his development there before returning to challenge for a starting berth at Chelsea. Sanchez and Arrizabalaga should be sold while Jorgensen plays back-up to Petrovic in West London.
