Philippe Coutinho (31) is planning on returning to Brazil as he looks to end his current contract with Aston Villa early. His deal with the English club runs until 2026 but he has not featured for the side since last August when he was sent on loan to Al-Duhail.

Coutinho featured fairly prominently for the Qatari club in a disappointing season where the reigning champions of the Qatars Star League fell to a sixth-place finish and failed to find a route out of their Champions League group.

Philippe Coutinho nears homecoming

Al-Duhail did not try to convince the Brazilian to stay for an extra season and his time at Aston Villa looks as if it has reached its end, as according to Sports Zone, the midfielder has set his heart on rejoining his formative club. Coutinho is thought to be close to securing a financial agreement that will allow him to leave Villa and return to Vasco da Gama.
