Watford go into the final five games of the season knowing they need an impressive run of form to squeak into the top six.

The Hornets have been so inconsistent for form under Tom Cleverley in recent times, winning just two of their last seven league games to give themselves a tough ask of securing a play-off place.

A consistent number of victories between now and May is the only way to give themselves a shot at a Premier League return, with a trip to The Hawthorns to take on play-off rivals West Brom the start of their final run-in.

The Hornets then host Burnley, then making back-to-back away visits to Portsmouth and Blackburn Rovers, before entertaining Sheffield Wednesday at Vicarage Road at the end of the campaign.

While it is possible to secure some victories, it has become an even bigger uphill task to achieve, with star man Giorgi Chakvetadze ruled out for the rest of the season due to a stress fracture in his toe.

Such a dangerous and feared figure in the final third, Watford will be devastated by this development, and it has now raised questions over whether the Georgian international has played his final game for the club.

Speaking exclusively to Football League World, Watford fan pundit Justin Beattie believes Watford have seen the last of Giorgi Chakvetadze, expecting the playmaker to move on after such an impressive term.

Beattie said: “I would be absolutely amazed if Giorgi Chakvetadze hasn't played his last game for Watford after being ruled out for the remainder of the season.

“We desperately need to start spending some money on the squad and Giorgi is probably our most sellable asset, and I can't see him remaining with the Hornets into next season, so I think he's probably going to go.

“Most supporters will understand why we have to sell him, and I think we’ve all appreciated watching him play for Watford during his time at Vicarage Road.

“He's played an awful lot of games for us in the short time that he's been with us, and I think everyone Watford supporter would want to wish him all the very best going forward in his career, wherever he goes.”

Despite being set to lose such an influential player in the attacking third, Watford should receive a sizeable chunk of money from selling Giorgi Chakvetadze to improve multiple positions of the playing squad.

Recording two goals and six assists this season, Chakvetadze’s pace, direct running and ability to glide past players has made him a menace in the second tier this season, leading to previous interest from the likes of Wolves and Leicester City.

Provided they receive a healthy sum of money, Watford will need to be clever in where they spend it, with multiple additions providing the potential for the club to push towards a Premier League return next term.
