PLAYER RATINGS: Dean Henderson Throws Ball at Wissa’s Leg to Win Brentford the Game | OneFootball

Ivan Toney wasn’t in the Brentford squad; who would have bet that? Probably him.

The Eagles vs the Bees. The Birds and the Bees if you must. It wasn’t as exciting as that would be, though. Dean Henderson threw the ball at Wissa’s leg. Brentford won.

Let’s get into the ratings then.

Player Ratings

Brentford

Mark Flekken (7): Made 6 saves and looked solid between the sticks for Brentford.

Kristoffer Ajer (6.5): Was never really tested much against Kamada. Solid game from the lad.

Nathan Collins (7.5): Collins had a really strong first half. Then a really solid second half. Then he decided to play striker at one point. And it actually worked. His shot led to Wissa’s goal.

Ethan Pinnock (5): Was having a decent game, then put the ball in the wrong net. A little unlucky.

Mads Roerslev (5.5): Struggled with Eze quite a bit down his side. Never felt comfortable against the Englishman, who also wasn’t at his best.

Christian Nørgaard (6): Fairly wasteful on the ball, gave possession away quite a few times.

Vitaly Janelt (7): Didn’t put a foot wrong. He won the majority of his individual battles.

Mathias Jensen (6): Didn’t set the world alight. If he wants to keep his place against new signing Carvalho, he has more to do.

Bryan Mbeumo (8): Excellent run and finish to open the scoring. Just a brilliant player all around. He will be playing Champions League football sooner rather than later.

Yoanne Wissa (8): Brilliant vision to spot the gap between the defenders to set Mbuemo through for his goal. Scored the easiest goal of his life after Henderson slapped the ball off him.

Kevin Schade (6): Looked sharped and eager to be involved in the game, but lacked substance in the final third.

Subs

Mikel Damsgaard (6): Didn’t do much after coming on.

Keane Lewis-Potter (6): Didn’t change the game much. Only made 7 touches.

Fabio Carvalho (N/A): Came on.

Frank Onyeka (N/A): Played.

Ben Mee (N/A): Also played.

Crystal Palace

Dean Henderson (5.5): Threw the ball at Wissa’s leg to concede. I am not sure that is how you keep goals out of your net. Interesting tactic.

Marc Guehi (6): Should have done better to defend Mbuemo, as he showed him onto his left foot for his goal. Otherwise, he was aerially dominant, and he made some really nice long passes.

Joachim Andersen (5.5): Struggled today, as shown by the fact he only won one ground duel. Quality player so expect him to rebound next week.

Chris Richards (5): Probably the worst of the Palace back three. Not a great game of soccer for the American.

Tyrick Mitchell (6.5): Impressive going forward. Wasn’t his best at the back, but still retrieved the ball quite a lot.

Will Hughes (6.5): Kept the ball ticking quite well. Decent little shift from Hughes.

Adam Wharton (6.5): This is an 80 million player in waiting even if he it wasn’t his best showing. Still a solid performance.

Daniel Munoz (6.5): Like his wing-back partner, he got forward quite a bit and looked a threat. He whipped in a dangerous ball that Ethan Pinnock stuck in his own net.

Eberechi Eze (6): Had a goal incorrectly ruled out, then had an assist ruled out for offside. Just a really good footballer. Makes it looke Eze. Sorry. This makes it seem like I am giving him a good rating. He wasn’t at his best.

Daichi Kamada (6): Didn’t look at his best, but there were signs he could be a big player for Glasner. Look out Everton manager Sean; there is a new Daichi in town.

Jean-Philippe Mateta (5): Fairly isolated in the first half and not involved in the game. It made sense that he was brought off at halftime.

Subs

Odsonne Edouard (6): Scored an offside goal and I thought he had solved Crystal Palace’s issues up top. Spoiler: He didn’t. Was still better than Mateta.
