Fiorentina were eliminated from the Conference League semifinal by Real Betis despite a brace from MOTM Robin Gosens.
Fiorentina
De Gea 7 – Conceded a free kick at the near post, but it was really well taken by Antony. Made one big save in the first half and two more in the dying minutes.
Pongracic 5 – Looked pretty vulnerable, especially in the second half. (105′ Zaniolo N/A).
Comuzzo 5.5 – A shaky start with too many misplaced passes, but he recovered quickly and had the first real chance for the Tuscans. A vital block on Ezzalzouli in the second half. Lost a duel in the build-up to Real Betis’ equaliser.
Ranieri 5.5 – Sometimes messy with the ball at his feet, but extremely tough in every duel. In the second half, he argued a few times with Antony, trying to unsettle the Brazilian. In the end, he was the one in the wrong position for Real Betis’ equaliser.
Dodo 5.5 – Returned from an injury, so he wasn’t at his best. Slowly disappeared throughout the second half. (105′ Colpani N/A).
Fagioli 6.5 – The quality is always there, but tonight he struggled more than usual to find passing lanes consistently. Surely not happy when he was subbed off. He kept asking ‘Why, why?’ (88′ Folorunsho N/A).
Adli 6.5 – Provided the assist for Gosens’ second goal and was subbed off at halftime. (46′ Richardson 5)
Mandragora 7 – The first Gosens goal was inspired by his left foot from a corner kick. One of Fiorentina’s key players this season.
Gosens 8 – Clearly the man of the match. Two big goals to turn the tie around and a positive attitude in all situations. Always ready to push forward, but also help defensively. A complete performance. (95′ Parisi 6)
Gudmundsson 5.5 – Often forced to drop deep to collect the ball and contribute to the build-up. He didn’t have genuine chances in attack. (95′ Beltran 5.5).
Kean 6 – Remarkable physical clash with Natan. He had the best at times, but not enough to get clear chances. Didn’t like it when the ex-Napoli defender dragged him back in the final minutes and made sure he knew his feelings, which cost him a yellow card as well.
Coach: Palladino 5.5 – Fiorentina created the best chances from set pieces and were probably more dangerous with long balls rather than with the build-up from the back. Debatable substitutions. Dodo looked a bit tired after recovering from an injury; perhaps he should have been subbed off earlier.
Real Betis: Vieites 6; Sabaly 6.5 (87′ Bellerin 6), Bartra 6 (59′ Mendy 6), Natan 6, Ricardo Rodriguez 6.5; Cardoso 5.5, Lo Celso 5.5 (57′ Ezzalzouli 7); Antony 7.5, Isco 7, Fornals 5.5 (91′ Ruibal 6); Bakambu 6 (91′ Altimira 6.5). Coach: Pellegrini 6.5
