Netherlands qualified for the quarter-finals of the World Cup after they picked up a rather promising 3-1 win over the United States of America.

Goals from Memphis Depay and Daley Blind had made it 2-0, but the US pulled one back through Haji Wright until Denzel Dumfries added a decisive third.

Key performers

Denzel Dumfries, 8: Criticised so far, Dumfries came in with a perfect performance as he grabbed a goal and two assists. Antonee Robinson left a lot of space behind him and this allowed Dumfries to cause havoc and create chances for his side.

Memphis Depay, 7: Depay put in an excellent performance as his hold-up, ability to turn and his decision making in the final third helped Netherlands keep hold of the ball in the right areas in attack. His contribution was invaluable.

Daley Blind, 8: Like Dumfries, Blind had a lot of space to attack behind Sergino Dest and he never let the opportunity go an he bombed into those spaces and also set others up. He got one goal and one assist.
