Mauricio Pochettino was questioned today about his thoughts on Chelsea’s transfer business so far – and what might be to come – and in his typical disarming fashion he bounced the question right back at those asking
The rumours in the press in recent days have claimed that Lesley Ugochukwu is going to join the Blues and possibly go on loan, and rather than blandly straight-bat the question back with a denial or an “I don’t like to talk about other club’s players” answer, Pochettino admitted he knew no more than the journos asking him:
“I think you’re still talking about if we need experience in midfield,” the head coach said in quotes picked up by the Evening Standard.
“I have the information you have. My information is a player that is from France that maybe they sign with the idea to send on loan. The information was already in your laptop!”
Even if Ugochukwu is signed, there’s still the strong feeling the club will need another senior player in the middle of the park, and Pochettino didn’t seem to rule that out either.
His personable nature is getting fans, and the media onside, and it’s a real relief to return to a coach who knows how to play the game correctly in these situations.
