The Portland Timbers have re-signed MLS veteran fullback Eric Miller for the 2024 season. The 31 year old Miller is primarily a rightback, but has some experience hoping in at centerback or even leftback if needed. Miller won the 2014 Canadian Championship with CF Montreal as the lone trophy of his career. He has 203 career games played between the Portland Timbers, CF Montreal, Colorado Rapids, Nashville SC, Minnesota United FC, NYCFC, FC Montreal, and the Portland Timbers 2. In those games he has scored 1 goal and recorded 4 assists.
Miller initially joined the Timbers as their primary backup rightback option to Juan David Mosquera. But, Timbers leftback Claudio Bravo is set to miss some decent time to start their 2024 season, so I would expect to see Miller as a starting option on that leftside until Bravo’s return. Once Bravo returns to the Timbers starting lineup, I would expect Miller to serve as the primary backup option on both sides… unless the Timbers add another leftback to the roster.
