Looking at these Premier League fixtures this round of matches.
Seeing the other games from a Newcastle United perspective.
Eddie Howe and his players facing Nottingham Forest on Sunday afternoon, with a 2pm kick-off.
As a Newcastle United fan though, have a look at this weekend’s other Premier League fixtures and have a think about what you’d like to happen and what is likely in terms of results.
(Friday night saw the first PL game of the weekend played out, it ending Leicester 0 Brentford 4.)
Saturday 22 February
Everton v Man U (12.30pm)
Bournemouth v Wolves (3pm)
Arsenal v West Ham (3pm)
Fulham v Palace (3pm)
Ipswich v Spurs (3pm)
Southampton v Brighton (3pm)
Villa v Chelsea (5.30pm)
Sunday 23 February
Newcastle v Forest (2pm)
Man City v Liverpool (4.30pm)
This is how the table looks on Saturday morning (22 February 2025) before the remaining nine Premier League fixtures of this weekend are played:
My Conclusions
Saturday 22 February
Everton v Man U – Two poor teams who are only surviving this season due to really dire teams at the very bottom. However, there has been a new manager bounce with Moyes and Man U have so few players with character, this could well be another humiliating afternoon for the away side.
Bournemouth v Wolves – The Cherries are obviously doing very well. However, Wolves have revived winning 2-0 against Villa and they deserved at least a point, if not all three at Anfield last time out. With similar levels of performance but a bit more luck going their way, not impossible that Wolves can get something today.
Arsenal v West Ham – Difficult to see anything but a home win, the Hammers woeful and missing Paqueta today.
Fulham v Palace – Fulham doing well but Palace on their day a decent threat. Not a shock if this is a draw.
Ipswich v Spurs – Only one point from their last five matches and only three wins all season. However, Ipswich did win at Spurs and whilst Tottenham were good enough to beat Man U, Spurs are still fragile and if Ipswich get the first goal…
Southampton v Brighton – The Saints did manage to win at Ipswich two games ago but only their second victory all season. Need a miracle to stay up and a win here to give any hope. You have to think Brighton win.
Villa v Chelsea – Chelsea very average and Villa inconsistent. However, Villa drew with Liverpool in midweek and could have won that. I can’t see Villa losing and probably a draw best for NUFC.
Sunday 23 February
Newcastle v Forest – Hopefully a comfortable home win and NUFC move to within three points of Forest and third place.
Man City v Liverpool – It doesn’t sit well wanting Liverpool to win a match but here’s hoping. Newcastle gifted Man City that win last weekend and I think the scousers too good for them here potentially.
