The action doesn’t stop in the Premier League with gameweek 27 fast approaching.
Liverpool go into the midweek round of fixtures 11 points clear at the top of the Premier League table, albeit having played a game more than their rivals. But they do not have an easy fixture, welcoming Newcastle United to Anfield.
There are some tasty matchups across the week, as Liverpool’s title rivals Arsenal travel to third-placed Nottingham Forest. And Manchester City will be looking to bounce back from their defeat to Liverpool when they take on Tottenham Hotspur.
All three sides in the relegation zone face tricky ties away from home too, with Leicester City closing out the gameweek against West Ham United at the London Stadium on Thursday.
We’ve taken a look at all 10 matches from gameweek 27 and offered our predicted scores.
Brighton vs Bournemouth
Bournemouth travel to the Amex Stadium to face Brighton and Hove Albion in a bit of a rut. The Cherries have lost two of their past three games, and were beaten by relegation-battling Wolverhampton Wanderers last time out. Fortunately, it was a bad weekend for all Champions League challengers, so Bournemouth could move into the top four with a win. They face a Brighton side that have won their past two games without conceding, and can move level on points with Bournemouth if they get the victory here. Brighton have won four of their past five games against Bournemouth though, having the Cherries’ number.
Crystal Palace are in a good place right now, winning four of their past six games. But they’ve struggled to get the wins at Selhurst Park. The Eagles have won just one of their last eight home league games, drawing three and losing four. They’ve lost their last two home league matches. But Aston Villa are a team in bad form on the road. The Villans have lost six of their last eight Premier League away games, with one win and one draw. These two may cancel each other out.
Prediction: Crystal Palace 2-2 Aston Villa (21/2 with BetMGM)
Wolves moved five points clear of the relegation zone at the weekend, beating Bournemouth 0-1 away from home. Fulham, meanwhile, missed the opportunity to cut the gap on the top four as they were beaten 0-2 at home by Crystal Palace. But Fulham are faring well on the road, particularly in front of goal. The Cottagers have scored exactly two goals in each of their past five away league games, winning three of those. Wolves, meanwhile, have lost four of their past six home league games — though they did win their most recent match at Molineux.
Chelsea are once again struggling, losing three of their past four league games. It’s a run that has seen them drop to seventh, even though they are just one point outside the top four. The Blues may welcome the visit of bottom-of-the-league Southampton, but they won’t make it easy. Chelsea have kept just one clean sheet at home in the league this season, conceding in each of their past five matches. They’ve also scored just four goals in their past four league games.
Prediction: Chelsea 2-1 Southampton (8/1 with BetMGM)
This is a battle between two sides in good form, despite sitting in the bottom half of the table. Brentford have won three of their past four league games, to jump up to 11th. But all three of those victories have come away from home. The Bees haven’t won at the Gtech Community Stadium since the start of December, losing four and drawing one of their past five. They’ve conceded at least two goals in each of their past six home matches. Everton, meanwhile, are unbeaten in their past six games under David Moyes, winning four of those. The Toffees are unbeaten on the road under Moyes, winning both of their away league matches so far. And they’re also unbeaten in their past five games against Brentford.
Manchester United may have dropped more points at the weekend, but they’ll be hoping to build on their comeback against Everton. The problem is, Man Utd are playing at home this week. And they don’t enjoy Premier League games at Old Trafford under Ruben Amorim. The Red Devils have lost five of their past six home league games. The only exception was a 3-1 win over relegation-battling Southampton. So Ipswich Town might be the best opponents for the Red Devils. The Tractor Boys haven’t won a league game in 2025, losing five and drawing two of their seven matches. They’ve drawn two and lost two of their past four away games, scoring in three of those matches.
Arsenal lost ground in the title race at the weekend as they were beaten at home by West Ham United. And it doesn’t get any easier, with a tricky trip to face the Tricky Trees at the City Ground. The Gunners saw a 15-game unbeaten run come to an end as their lack of attacking options caught up with them, and that may cost them this week. While Nottingham Forest have lost three of their past four games in the league, all three defeats came on the road. Forest are unbeaten in their past six home league games, winning five of those — only drawing against Liverpool. They also have the in-form Chris Wood, who loves playing at the City Ground.
Tottenham ended a long winless run at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium when they beat Man Utd just over a week ago. And now they welcome another Manchester club, who are in a difficult period. Man City have lost two of their past three league games, including a heavy loss on their last visit to north London. The 5-1 defeat to Arsenal did end Man City’s three-game unbeaten run away from home in the league. But Tottenham have already beat Man City twice this season, including a 2-1 home win in the Carabao Cup. That ended Man City’s two-game winning run at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, having generally struggled at the ground. This is a tough one to call.
This could be Liverpool’s chance to further extend their lead at the top of the table. Although Newcastle represent a tough opponent, Liverpool like this fixture. The Reds are unbeaten in their past 16 league games against Newcastle, winning 11 alongside five draws. There was a draw in the league earlier this season, a six-goal thriller at St James’ Park. Liverpool have scored at least twice in each of their last 17 home games across all competitions, while lost 13 of their last 17 Premier League away matches on a Wednesday. It’s a niche stat, but there’s something ago travelling on a Wednesday that Newcastle just don’t like.
West Ham have found wins hard to come by under Graham Potter, but they secured a big victory over Arsenal at the weekend. And they’ll be confident that they can string together back-to-back wins. Leicester continue to struggle under Ruud van Nistelrooy, now losing 10 of their 13 league games since the Dutchman took charge. Since a 1-2 away win over Tottenham, Leicester have lost their past three matches, all without scoring. And goals have been a problem for Leicester. The Foxes have now failed to score in eight of their 13 league games under Van Nistelrooy. And Potter has won each of his last seven home league games against promoted sides without conceding.
