Liverpool suffer rare defeat but title still firmly on the cards
Liverpool will almost certainly win the Premier League title but are starting to rock.
Premier League champions-elect Liverpool were beaten 3-2 at Fulham on Sunday but remain 11 points clear of their next challengers.
Indeed, Arsenal drew 1-1 with Everton on Saturday lunchtime, with Leandro Trossard’s opener cancelled out by Iliman Ndiaye’s penalty to leave the Gunners 11 points behind the Reds.
Later that day, Crystal Palace beat rivals Brighton 2-1 but that does not tell the whole story. The Eagles were reduced to nine men following red cards shown to both Eddie Nketiah and Marc Guehi, while the Seagulls had Jan Paul van Hecke dismissed too. Meanwhile, West Ham drew 2-2 with Bournemouth.
The Champions League race took further turns on Sunday.
Chelsea were held to a 0-0 draw away at West London rivals Brentford, while Fulham’s win puts them in contention again.
Southampton lost 3-1 at Tottenham to suffer the earliest-ever relegation in the League’s 33-year history.
